How it works

A clear path from request to results

We’ve simplified outpatient ultrasound and laboratory testing into a few easy steps, with clinical review before confirmation.

Diagnostic ultrasound

Booking an ultrasound exam

  1. 1

    Choose your ultrasound

Select the outpatient ultrasound exam you’re interested in.

  2. 2

Tell us about your order & complete a brief screening

Let us know whether you already have an imaging order. All OB requests include pregnancy-history and safety questions, even with an outside order, and undergo clinical review before confirmation.

  3. 3

    Choose your appointment

Choose a preferred date and time at our West Ashley location. Your ultrasound appointment is confirmed after clinical review.

  4. 4

    Complete your ultrasound

Visit us for a fast, comfortable outpatient exam performed by a qualified sonographer or physician.

  5. 5

    Register for the patient portal

Create your secure CharmHealth patient portal account — this is where your results and records are delivered.

  6. 6

    Get your results

Your study is interpreted by a radiologist, and your results are delivered securely through the patient portal.

Laboratory testing

Booking laboratory testing

Choose a curated panel or build your own from individual tests — with the same transparent, direct-pay pricing.

  1. 1

Choose a panel or individual test

Select a curated wellness panel or build your own from individual lab tests.

  2. 2

Tell us what you would like evaluated

Share a brief reason for testing so we can prepare for your visit.

  3. 3

Let us know about your order

Tell us whether you already have an order. Some tests require one; others can be requested for licensed provider review.

  4. 4

    Complete the applicable intake

Finish the short intake or review process that applies to the tests you selected.

  5. 5

    Choose your appointment

Pick an available laboratory appointment at our West Ashley location.

  6. 6

Complete specimen collection & get results

Depending on the test, specimen collection may involve a blood draw, urine specimen, swab, or collection-kit instructions. Results are delivered securely through the established patient portal.

Two ways to get started

Choose the pathway that fits you

Whether or not you already have an order, we make the next step obvious.

Pathway A

You already have an order

Upload your order or let us know how you will provide it. Every OB request still includes pregnancy-history and safety questions and clinical review before confirmation. If there are pregnancy concerns, the clinical team must review the outside OB order and appropriate follow-up arrangements.

Pathway B

No Order Needed to start your request

Submit a request with a brief clinical screening. Routine, uncomplicated pregnancy ultrasounds may qualify without an outside OB order after review; pregnancy concerns require an outside OB order and follow-up. A licensed provider determines whether the requested service is appropriate and meets applicable ordering requirements. Submitting a request does not guarantee that an order will be issued.

Clinical review

Always know where your request stands

Your request moves through the existing clinical review and confirmation process.

  1. Request received

We’ve received your request and supporting information.

  2. Under clinical review

An independent, licensed provider is reviewing your request — usually complete within 30 to 60 minutes during business hours. Very infrequently, we may request a brief telehealth video visit to clarify certain symptoms.

  3. Additional information needed

The provider has requested more information before deciding.

  4. Approved and scheduled

Your request was approved and your appointment is confirmed.

  5. Not approved

The requested service was determined not to be appropriate at this time.

  6. Refund initiated

If applicable, any payment collected is being refunded.

A note on what we are. Palmetto Preventive provides non-emergency outpatient diagnostic imaging and laboratory services. We are not an emergency department, urgent care center, hospital, or a substitute for emergency evaluation, and we are not a longitudinal primary-care practice. If you are experiencing severe or rapidly worsening symptoms, seek immediate medical care or call 911.
